[Outlander Summary] S03E09: The Doldrums.


Jamie and Claire sail to Jamaica to save Young Ian. The crew thinks a woman on ship is a bad luck, so they have been ignoring Claire all day. Jamie take Willoughby and Fergus with them. Without their knowledge, Fergus bring Marsali along and proclaimed they are married. Upset with the situation, Jamie set a sleeping arrangement where Marsali and Claire sleep in the same room, and he and Fergus in another room.

As the only healer on the ship, Claire skill is very useful. One of the crew got hurt and a man suspect this bad luck incident happen because someone on the ship didn't touch the horseshoe. Want to clear things with Claire, the captain invite her and Jamie to dinner. Being sea sick, Jamie couldn't make it.

Claire Fraser Monologue #1:

The days started blending together. For me, this meant tending to minor injuries... and making medicines. Being on the ship at sea,
with endless horizons, appealed to me... It reminded me of a simpler time.


The ship suddenly stop moving because there is no wind. Some of the crew member have their superstitious guess why this rare phenomenon happen. They plan to find who is bring this bad luck and throw the person overboard.

Claire Fraser Monologue #2:

The days turned into weeks and the wind did not return. We were becalmed in the middle of a vast ocean, hundreds of miles from the nearest shore. Even the most experienced sailors were growing anxious and beginning to fear the worst.

The rain finally coming and that's mean they have the wind to move again. A British navy ship approach them and the acting captain ask if they have a surgeon on board. They suffered an outbreak of infectious plague. Claire offer herself to help for the day but when she's on board, the captain decide to moving continue their journey to Jamaica.

Claire, Jamie, and Ian continue their journey searching for Roger . They got some lead from a Cherokee group who said the necklace Ian's own is belong to the Mohawk village called Shadow Lake. Notice the tension between his uncle & aunt, Ian ask Claire to try make peace with Jamie. Fergus help Murtagh looking for Stephen Bonnet in Wilmington . While he stay in Fergus house, Murtagh still have a secret meeting with the regulators. Marsali doesn't like it. However she ask Murtagh to take Fergus to fight along him to lift Fergus confidence as a man. Back in River Run, Aunt Jacosta held a dinner at her estate to introduce Brianna to help her find a perfect suitor. One of the guest is Lord John Grey. He also deliver Jamie's letter to Bree. The next morning, Bree receive a news from one of the maid that Mister Forbes has asking her hand in marriage to Aunt Jacosta. [Outlander Summary] S01E04: The Gathering.

Claire starting to plan her escape. When she play with children outside the Castle Leoch , she will left breadcrumbs on her escape path. For a person from 20th century, seeing a 18th century highlander gathering is fascinated for Claire. And she's actually enjoy the festive. Claire Randall Monologue #1: The hunting game was more than a pleasant diversion. It allowed me to reconnoiter the terrain around the castle without suspicion.
