[Outlander Summary] S02E05: Untimely Resurrection.


Claire Monologue #1:

I hadn't noticed the noise of the clock before that evening, but in that moment, each annoying tick filled my head, reminding me that Jamie wasn't there.

After our dinner party disintegrated into a brawl, the gens d'armes had come and arrested everyone. But it was all a misunderstanding.

Alex Randall hadn't raped Mary Hawkins, and Jamie had nothing to do with any of it.

Because of the incident at dinner, Jamie and Murtagh were taken by police for investigation. Claire accompany by Fergus waiting for them until morning when they finally get home. Alex Randall himself is not so lucky. He stay in prison because someone testify they see him attack Mary.

Jamie set Murtagh to follow St. German, because he's leaving dinner with Sandringham, and nothing good comes from them. He wants to know who's behind the attack of Claire and Mary. Murtagh later inform Jamie there's nothing suspicious about St. German. He can't forgive himself for what happened in that alley.

Claire visit Mary to give her a medical examination. She ask Claire a favor to deliver her letter to Bastille that explain the details of the attack and Alex innocence. Mary also reveal to Claire, she and Alex hoping to be married when he release from jail.

Claire Monologue #2:

When Mary mentioned Alex Randall at the hospital, I thought it nothing more than a young girl's crush. If Alex and Mary were to wed, what would become of the lineage Mary and Jack Randall supposedly ensure?.

What becomes of Frank?. Did I hold the key to Frank's existence in the palm of my hand?. Could I simply release my grasp, dispose of the letter, and allow fate to carry out its plan?.

But how could I condemn Alex Randall to prison without the utmost certainty it would ensure Frank's existence?.

Prince Charles came to see Jamie and tell him they have £10,000 fund. With this new development, the prince wish Duverney proof the king that Jacobite rebellion worthy investment. Claire having a conversation with Alex Randall after he get out of the prison. She show her concern about Mary future if she marry him while Alex is not well and have no job after being release from Duke secretary position.


Claire Monologue #3:

It broke my heart to break his. Alex and Mary clearly loved one another, and I was robbing them of happiness. But what choice did I have?. I forced myself to focus on the evidence.

Mary Hawkins and Jonathan Randall were to have a child together. I saw the proof of that with my own eyes. Alex and Mary simply could not be.
For Frank's sake.

Jamie and St. German meet to talk about bushiness that Prince Charles set. After 2 unpleasant incident that happen to Claire and they have suspicious on Comte, the conversation is intense. At home Jamie surprise Claire with christening gift for the bairn.

At Versailles, Jamie help The Duke pick a team of horses to purchase. The Duke also show his bad impression about Prince Charles after he met him at dinner. Captain Jack Randall suddenly appear in front of Claire when she's talking with Annalise. Surprise and shock seeing the man who cause so much pain for Jamie and herself, Claire try to calm and compose.

It took everything in Jamie self control to be calm when he met Randall, only because they're in the presence of The King. Before leaving the Versailles, Jamie ask Randall a duel and he accept it. Claire disagree with the duel, afraid of the outcome and ask Jamie to think about her and their child. More importantly it's also about Frank's future.

Claire, Jamie, and Ian continue their journey searching for Roger . They got some lead from a Cherokee group who said the necklace Ian's own is belong to the Mohawk village called Shadow Lake. Notice the tension between his uncle & aunt, Ian ask Claire to try make peace with Jamie. Fergus help Murtagh looking for Stephen Bonnet in Wilmington . While he stay in Fergus house, Murtagh still have a secret meeting with the regulators. Marsali doesn't like it. However she ask Murtagh to take Fergus to fight along him to lift Fergus confidence as a man. Back in River Run, Aunt Jacosta held a dinner at her estate to introduce Brianna to help her find a perfect suitor. One of the guest is Lord John Grey. He also deliver Jamie's letter to Bree. The next morning, Bree receive a news from one of the maid that Mister Forbes has asking her hand in marriage to Aunt Jacosta. [Outlander Summary] S01E04: The Gathering.

Claire starting to plan her escape. When she play with children outside the Castle Leoch , she will left breadcrumbs on her escape path. For a person from 20th century, seeing a 18th century highlander gathering is fascinated for Claire. And she's actually enjoy the festive. Claire Randall Monologue #1: The hunting game was more than a pleasant diversion. It allowed me to reconnoiter the terrain around the castle without suspicion. So far I had found at least two possible escape routes, and left breadcrumbs to mark my way to freedom.
