[Outlander Summary] S02E12: The Hail Mary.


Claire Fraser Monologue #1:

It was hard to believe that these were the same brave Highland warriors who had beaten the British army at Prestonpans and Falkirk, who had marched triumphantly into England.

Five months of retreat with not enough food and brutal weather had left them broken and demoralized. Our worst nightmare was coming true and I felt completely helpless in the face of it.

They arrive just outside of Inverness and get some rest. Even though Dougal and his men are tired, Jamie still ask him to take a patrol to locate the British army. Don't want waste more time, Jamie sent Murtagh to fetch the prince so they can make plan sooner. The three of them know what will happen next because Culloden Moor lies just a few miles east.

When Claire go to Inverness to replenish her medical supplies, she met Mary Hawkins. Mary doesn't look happy to meet Claire because she knew what exactly Claire told Alex in Paris about their relationship. Claire offer Mary to apologize to Alex personally.

Try to avoid the future, Jamie show his disagreement with Prince Charles general idea to join battle with the enemy Culloden Moor. Charles refuse to listen to all Jamie's reason. When Claire come to see Alex Randall, she meet Black Jack there.


Mary and Jack ask Claire to ease Alex pain but Claire wants something in return. Column appearance in pain surprise them. He ask Claire something final to end his illness. Alex condition is getting worse and he have a final wish for Jack. Dougal came back from patrol with news the British are camped at Nairn.

Column tells Jamie and Dougal his real reason to see them is only for clan matters. He wish that his son Hamish be the next chief of Clan MacKenzie. He choose Jamie to become Hamish guardianship. Dougal is angry with this decision.

Their plan to attack British camp in surprise attack failed after Prince Charles group get lost in the darkness.

Claire, Jamie, and Ian continue their journey searching for Roger . They got some lead from a Cherokee group who said the necklace Ian's own is belong to the Mohawk village called Shadow Lake. Notice the tension between his uncle & aunt, Ian ask Claire to try make peace with Jamie. Fergus help Murtagh looking for Stephen Bonnet in Wilmington . While he stay in Fergus house, Murtagh still have a secret meeting with the regulators. Marsali doesn't like it. However she ask Murtagh to take Fergus to fight along him to lift Fergus confidence as a man. Back in River Run, Aunt Jacosta held a dinner at her estate to introduce Brianna to help her find a perfect suitor. One of the guest is Lord John Grey. He also deliver Jamie's letter to Bree. The next morning, Bree receive a news from one of the maid that Mister Forbes has asking her hand in marriage to Aunt Jacosta. [Outlander Summary] S01E04: The Gathering.

Claire starting to plan her escape. When she play with children outside the Castle Leoch , she will left breadcrumbs on her escape path. For a person from 20th century, seeing a 18th century highlander gathering is fascinated for Claire. And she's actually enjoy the festive. Claire Randall Monologue #1: The hunting game was more than a pleasant diversion. It allowed me to reconnoiter the terrain around the castle without suspicion.
