From centuries humans have held an endless fascination with circles, attributing meaning where they are found.

From the eternal rotation of the planets around the sun to the movement of clock hands, to a simple wedding band. And I more than most know full well just how a circle can affect one's life.

Or death.

Survived from the storm that destroyed their ship, Jamie and Claire arrived in America. When Jamie try to save Hayes from death sentence because he's sleeping with another man's wife, he met another prisoner name Stephen. There is chaos in execution day and Stephen escaped.

It had been four months since we arrived in America. We'd been making our way up the coast when our friend, Gavin Hayes, killed a man and was sentenced to death.

Jamie tried everything he could to save Hayes, but the magistrate wouldn't listen.

And so we were off to bury our friend. Sadly Hayes would never
return home to Scotland. And the only way the rest of us would make it back was to sell a gem stone we salvaged from the wreck of the Artemis.

When they take Hayes to bury his body, they found Stephen Bonnet hidden in the wagon. Stephen ask a favor to Jamie to take him safely somewhere past the soldiers who hunting him. In return in honoring Hayes, he help them bury his body.

After they take Stephen to his destination, on their stop, Claire give Jamie a little bit story about what is call an American Dream.

Claire Fraser Monologue #3:

I suggested to Jamie we try and sell the ruby. As we got ready for the Lillington dinner that night, our hopes were high that we'd find a buyer.

On one of dinner invitation, The Governor of North Carolina, Lord Tryon, invite Jamie to have a private conversation. He offer Jamie a land to manage in the name of the crown. Jamie rejected it on spot. When they meet with Ian, Fergus, and Lesley the next morning, Jamie bring up the topic of they're staying in America.

A group of thieves led by Stephen Bonnet rob Jamie and Claire on their way to visit Jamie's aunt, Jocasta Cameron.
